Student Day November 5th, 2022

Our ASID WA State Chapter participated, along with four other design groups at the Seattle Design Center, hosting 100 students from local colleges and high schools for a Student Career Day on Friday, November 5th. It was an outstanding success in every way for the students interested in an Interior Design Career and all who participated in this amazing event.

There was an informative and helpful discussion led by Paula Kennedy, featuring panelists: Sula Nisargard, Rebecca West, James Fung, and Rebecca West. The students were also given samples from the SDC Showrooms, to "Create a Room" judged by the panelists, using their design skills and creativity.

Each of the design groups also participated in drawings for gifts given to the students. Ours were four colorful backpacks, featured in these pictures. Ironically, one of the first gifts drawn from our ASID WA State Chapter was given to Megan Blunk. She said that she has never had a backpack that fit the back of her wheelchair, and happily attached it to the back of her chair after her name was drawn. All the students loved their backpack gifts too.

Our ASID chapter was led by Rahja Oyake, Stormy Brown, and myself. We are already looking forward to next year, where hopefully, more even more students will be able to participate. Our booth was filled throughout the day with engaging and interested students. What an exciting and fulfilling Student Career Day, happy we were able to share in the radiance of all these amazing students involved at the Seattle Design Center.
