Description
The Consortium of Interior Design Washington, a united partnership between IIDA
Northern Pacific Chapter, ASID Washington State, and CIDQ is actively leading
legislative efforts to advance the regulation and recognition of Commercial Interior
Designers in Washington State. For the past 10 months, our Consortium has been
collaborating closely with the AIA Washington Council on proposed legislation to
establish the Registered Commercial Interior Designer (RCID) designation, slated for
the 2026 legislative session.
Our goal is clear: to ensure that the RCID designation moves forward in a way that
honors the integrity of our profession and protects public health, safety, and welfare.
This effort recognizes the rigorous education, experience, and examination that
defines our practice and affirms the vital role Commercial Interior Designers play in
shaping the code-impacted spaces of the built environment. We believe that legal
recognition through professional registration and certification, strengthens our industry,
defines accountability, and elevates standards of excellence across the design
community.
We know you have questions and your perspective matters. Join us for our upcoming
virtual town hall session to learn more, share your thoughts, and help shape the
future of the Commercial Interior Design profession.
